I love to read. I love to read so much that I have to restrain myself. My tendency to become completely absorbed in a story world has led to rather regrettable withdrawals from my actual life a la “I just finished the Harry Potter series and everything about real life is meaningless give me my characters back right now.” I actually did just finish the Harry Potter series, and I enjoyed it (yes, I know that I’m so late to this party that the guests have left and all the decorations have been taken down, but better late than never, right?).
It’s a serious problem, and it doesn’t just happen with books. Pretty much any good story will do this to me, no matter how it’s presented. I think I need a support group for readers.
Anyway, as a result, I have to take breaks in between particularly amazing books or series, but that doesn’t stop my reading list from expanding.
This year, I’ve set a goal of reading 75 books before the end of the year, and I’m really looking forward to it. Here are a few of the books still on my list.
To Be Read
Akata Warrior by Nnedi Okorafor
Caraval by Stephanie Garber
Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
Heartless by Marissa Meyer
Vicious by V. E. Schwab
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin
What about you? Do you have anything you’re looking forward to reading this year?
